Facial Mesotherapy

Facial mesotherapy is an effective, customisable skin revitalisation and rejuvenation treatment that restores vital ingredients the skin loses over time or through environmental factors – vitamins, minerals, amino acids and moisture – by delivering them through very fine needles directly into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm).

It reaches depths that cosmetic products applied to the surface cannot, stimulating the skin’s repair and renewal mechanisms at a cellular level. Like a “vitamin cocktail” made specifically for your skin, it increases collagen and elastin production, boosts hydration, softens fine lines and gives a brighter, fresher, healthier look. At our clinic in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, I design a mesotherapy protocol for each patient rather than using standard formulas, aiming not just for temporary radiance but to strengthen the skin’s health and slow visible ageing.

Your Skin’s Needs: Why Mesotherapy?

Healthy, radiant, young skin needs sufficient hydration, a strong collagen and elastin network, regular cell renewal and effective antioxidant defences. Skincare products help, but their effect is limited by the protective barrier of the epidermis, which keeps out harmful factors but also prevents many valuable molecules from reaching the dermis – the layer where collagen and elastin are produced, blood vessels circulate and cell activity is most intense. Ageing begins as fibroblasts in the dermis slow down; the skin thins, dries, loses elasticity and wrinkles.

Facial mesotherapy gently passes this barrier with micro-injections and delivers hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and peptides directly to the dermis – like feeding a plant at its roots instead of watering the surface. This targeted nourishment triggers a chain of positive reactions:

  • Direct cellular stimulation: amino acids and peptides placed beside fibroblasts act as a “production order”, speeding up collagen and elastin synthesis so the skin gradually firms.
  • Deep hydration: pure, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid immediately increases the dermis’s water-holding capacity for plumpness, smoothness and radiance from within.
  • Strong antioxidant effect: vitamins C and E and glutathione fight free radicals at the level of the dermis, making the skin more resistant to environmental damage.
  • Revitalised microcirculation: even the tiny needle pricks increase blood flow, improving oxygenation and nourishment.

Facial Mesotherapy

Also known as “meso-lift” or “skin vitamin injections”, facial mesotherapy is a safe, natural anti-ageing approach. Its greatest strength is that it is completely customisable: dry skin needs intense hydration, skin that has lost elasticity needs amino acids to stimulate collagen, and pigmented skin needs antioxidant and brightening agents such as vitamin C. Like a tailor, I create a plan and cocktail for each patient after analysing their skin. Possible ingredients include:

  • Hyaluronic acid: the main ingredient of almost every cocktail, for deep hydration, plumpness, radiance and smoothing fine dehydration lines.
  • Vitamins: vitamin C (antioxidant, stimulates collagen and helps with pigmentation), vitamin A (regulates renewal and improves texture), B complex (energy metabolism and overall skin health) and vitamin E (protects and hydrates).
  • Amino acids such as proline, lysine and glycine, the building blocks of collagen and elastin, which help firm the skin and improve elasticity.
  • Minerals such as zinc, selenium and copper, important in antioxidant defences and enzyme reactions.
  • Peptides and growth factors, smart molecules that start repair, stimulate fibroblasts, can ease muscle contraction (such as argireline) or help control melanin.
  • Salmon DNA (PDRN): polynucleotides that support repair of damaged cells and strongly stimulate renewal.

After cleansing and applying an anaesthetic cream, the cocktail is injected with very fine needles across the face, neck and décolletage in small doses about 1–2 cm apart – like an infusion of “youth serum” that nourishes the skin from within.

Personalised Cocktails: Which Mesotherapy for Which Skin?

Just as every illness has its own treatment, every skin needs different nutrients and repair signals, so there is no one-size-fits-all formula. Some examples:

  1. “Intense hydration” cocktail – for dehydrated, dry, dull skin: for skin that looks pale and rough with visible dehydration lines and constant tightness. Based on a high concentration of pure, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, with vitamin B5 (panthenol) to strengthen the moisture barrier and vitamins C and E for antioxidant protection – a “hydration boost” for the skin.
  2. “Lifting and firming” cocktail – for loss of elasticity: for early laxity, slight loss of facial contour and more visible nasolabial folds. Rich in amino acids such as glycine, proline, lysine and leucine, with peptides that increase fibroblast activity, organic silicon to strengthen collagen fibres and DMAE for a mild tightening effect.
  3. “Brightening, anti-pigmentation” cocktail – for spots and uneven tone: for sun spots, age spots or brown marks after acne. Its star is vitamin C, which suppresses melanin production and is a strong antioxidant, together with agents such as glutathione, arbutin, tranexamic acid and retinol. It works best combined with other methods such as lasers for pigmentation.
  4. “Multivitamin and antioxidant” cocktail – for general revitalisation and protection: for people without a specific problem who want to protect their skin from sun, smoking, stress and pollution. It combines vitamins A, C, E and B, minerals such as zinc and selenium, strong antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 and alpha-lipoic acid, and essential amino acids.
The Procedure and Expected Results

Treatment always begins with a physician consultation: your skin is analysed, your concerns and expectations are discussed, and a personal cocktail and session plan are created. On the day, the skin is cleansed and disinfected, and a local anaesthetic cream is applied to the face, neck or décolletage about 20–30 minutes beforehand. The cocktail is then injected into the dermis with very fine (usually 32G), short (4 mm) needles in tiny points about 1–2 cm apart over the whole area. It takes about 15–20 minutes. Slight redness and small bumps at the injection points are normal and usually disappear within a few hours, and you can return to social life straight away.

  • Initial course: usually 4–6 sessions, 1–4 weeks apart, to strongly start the skin’s repair and renewal.
  • When results appear: as this is not a filler, results are not instant. After the first session the skin usually feels more hydrated, radiant and revitalised; firmer skin, better elasticity and fewer fine lines from increased collagen usually become noticeable after the 2nd or 3rd session, with smoother texture and more even tone.
  • Maintenance: a single booster session every 3 to 6 months, depending on your skin, to keep the result.

How long the results last depends on your lifestyle, genetics and skincare, but regular maintenance can help keep the skin healthy and youthful for years. Results vary between individuals.
