What is radiofrequency treatment?
Radiofrequency treatment sends radiofrequency waves generated by a device into the deeper layers of the skin to increase collagen and elastin production naturally. After treatment, the skin looks smoother and firmer, and therefore younger and more vibrant.
The needle-free radiofrequency treatment generally known as Satin Lift helps smooth wrinkles, while the microneedling version known as Gold Needle is effective for acne scars, stretch marks and skin tightening.
What is Gold Needle?
Gold Needle is a treatment that uses radiofrequency waves. Energy is delivered to the lower layers of the skin through fine needles, raising the temperature of the skin. This increases collagen production, which tightens the skin, reduces wrinkles and creates an anti-ageing effect. Because the body’s collagen production starts to decline from around the age of 35–40, mild sagging and signs of ageing may begin to appear on the face and neck. Choosing Gold Needle treatment at this stage can help lift wrinkles and sagging and slow their progression. It also gives positive results for acne scars and stretch marks.
What are the benefits of radiofrequency?
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Helps firm soft, sagging skin.
- Naturally stimulates collagen production in the skin.
- Improves tissue quality by increasing cellular renewal.
- Makes the skin look firmer, smoother, brighter and fresher.
- Helps reverse signs of ageing.
- It is a non-surgical treatment.
Which areas can be treated with radiofrequency?
The areas we treat with radiofrequency include:
- Jaw and cheeks
- Under the chin
- Around the eyes
- Around the mouth
- Neck
- Décolletage
How many sessions are needed?
The Satin Lift plan for smoothing wrinkles consists of 6 sessions in total: once a week for the first 4 weeks, then once every 15 days.
The Gold Needle plan for tightening or reducing scars consists of 3 sessions in total, once a month.
To prolong the effect, additional maintenance sessions may be recommended depending on the individual.
Is radiofrequency painful?
During needle-free radiofrequency for fine wrinkles, the skin warms up to a level the person can comfortably tolerate. The energy level is adjusted individually.
In microneedling radiofrequency, needles enter the skin at depths set according to the treatment area, and heat is delivered through them. To minimise discomfort, an anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand so that the treatment can be completed comfortably.
What can be expected after radiofrequency?
- A mild feeling of discomfort in the skin
- A feeling of tightness
- Oedema (lasting up to 24 hours)
- Redness (up to 1 week)
- Crusting and flaking
What should I pay attention to after treatment?
After treatment, you should not do anything to cool down the warmth in the treated area. Keeping the heat helps the effect on the skin and collagen continue more intensely.
Moisturise the skin generously. Do not use any cosmetic products other than moisturiser for the first 24 hours.
Avoid sun exposure for the first 3 days.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not be used as painkillers.
When do results start to appear?
Results start to be felt a few days after the first treatment. An immediate lift is seen as collagen in the skin contracts and shortens.
Because repeated sessions produce more new collagen, this initial effect turns into a long-term one.
After completing the recommended sessions, optimal results usually take about three months to appear.
Depending on the person’s skin tone, texture and natural ageing process, these results last up to 12 months.
Who should not have radiofrequency?
Groups for whom the treatment is contraindicated:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women
- People with a pacemaker, arrhythmia or serious heart disease
- People with clotting disorders
- Patients with cancer
- People with a history of recurrent cold sores in the treatment area
- People taking blood thinners
- People with autoimmune diseases
Local contraindications:
- A facelift or eyelid surgery within the last 3 months
- A chemical peel within the last 3 months
- Areas treated with botulinum toxin, collagen or fat injections within the last month
- Tanning treatments within the last 2 weeks
Can botulinum toxin or fillers be done alongside radiofrequency?
Radiofrequency can be used on its own or combined with mesotherapy, botulinum toxin and filler treatments. These combined treatments can be started 1–2 weeks after the radiofrequency session.
